Lakshmi Ganapathy is a Melbourne based creative with experience in Theatre and Journalism.
Storytelling is a passion for Lakshmi, be it on stage, on paper, or through the lens of a camera.
A graduate of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre and Media Studies) at La Trobe University, Lakshmi trained under Dr Bagryana Popov, Damien Millar, Dr Kim Baston and Dr Rob Conkie. Since graduating in 2020, she has performed at Melbourne Fringe, AsiaTOPA, Darebin FUSE and La Mama's War-Rak/Banksia Festival, and created content for La Trobe University, ArtsHub, RMITV and C31.
Through both her theatre and journalism practice, Lakshmi seeks to give voice to unheard perspectives and democratise theatre, working in unconventional spaces and with community members or other emerging artists to tell sincere and perceptive stories.
A passionate advocate for accessible arts, in 2020 she helped run various campaigns to save theatre at La Trobe. She has also penned articles on the topic for ArtsHub and spoken at La Mama Cabaretica on her experience fighting to save mainstream arts degrees.
She is currently the Melbourne Content Creator for Indian Link Media Group, an award-winning publication empowering the South Asian diaspora.
